| The IBA was formed in 2002 by two local businesses on Chincoteague Island , Virginia; The lock Clinic, owned and operated by Bill Chrisman, and The Island Aquarium, owned and operated by Buddy Gorsuch. The purpose is to promote Bluegrass Music on The Eastern Shore by holding concerts throughout the year featuring quality bluegrass bands. They try to make the concerts a special event by having more than just a band playing music. They do this by giving door prizes, adding special effects, and makeing everyone feel at home. They work very closely with The Chincoteague Center, which is the venue for all their events. They are the first organization to participate in the "Partners with the Center" program started in 2003. The IBA encourages individuals and businesses to join the alliance with a 5 tier sponsorship program. The goal is to be able to hire name bands throughout the year at a very low ticket price or even free to the public. one concert was held in 2002 featureing The Travelers. It was a great success and everyone in attendence will be back to see them on August 9, 2003. So far in 2003 there are 3 events scheduled, and more may be added. |
